Apply for a skip permit

We issue permits to skip owners to allow them to be placed on a public highway. Skip hire companies usually apply for permits on their customers’ behalf.

Warning – Skips placed on the public highway must have a permit and comply with our skip placement guidelines. Skip owners may be fined if they do not comply.

Fees are charged for permits based upon the length of time the skip will be on the highway.

  • Up to 7 days: £29
  • Up to 14 days: £40
  • Up to 28 days: £79.

You will need to renew the permit after the period expires. Please allow a minimum of five working days for us to process your application.

Before you start

You’ll need to provide:

  • The location the skip(s) are to be placed
  • The period you wish the permit to cover
  • Your contact details if we need to get in touch or arrange payment.

You can report an issue to us online, using our dedicated form, or you can contact us by phone, on 01724 297000.

What happens next

We will assess you application and will issue a permit within five working days.

If we cannot issue a permit, an officer will contact you within three working days to discuss your application.

We will send the permit using your preferred contact method.
