Young players at Burton United Junior Football Club will enjoy top-quality pitches for training and matches following new investment in equipment funded by North Lincolnshire Council.
A £4,494 grant has enabled the club to buy a ride-on mower and attachments, keeping grounds in peak condition for the hundreds of children who take part in teams from under-seven through to under-16.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Grassroots sport is so important for children’s health, confidence and teamwork. This grant means Burton United JFC can keep their pitches in great shape, giving young players the best possible facilities to enjoy the game.
“It’s another example of how our Community Grant Fund is making a difference to local clubs and communities across North Lincolnshire.”
Since launching in 2011, the Community Grant Fund has pumped millions into grassroots projects across the region – from sports clubs and youth groups to charities and parish councils – helping to strengthen communities and support local talent.
Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture. Support is also available for venue hire, helping keep community spaces open and active.
