North Lincolnshire households who use LPG as their main source of heating can now apply for £100 support through a new energy costs scheme.
The scheme is aimed at residents living off the mains gas network who often face higher heating costs and fewer options when energy prices rise.
It follows the success of the council’s heating oil support scheme, which has already seen almost 1,400 households receive payments.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We’ve already helped almost 1,400 heating oil households with direct financial support and we know there are other residents facing similar challenges.
“Many LPG users live in our villages and rural communities and can be particularly exposed to rising fuel costs. That’s why we’re extending support and making sure help is available to those households too.
“If you use LPG as your main source of heating, I encourage you to apply. We committed to making sure this funding reached the people it is intended to help, and here we are keeping that promise.”
To qualify, applicants must be a North Lincolnshire resident and use LPG as their main source of heating.
Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for finance and efficiency, said: “The response to the heating oil scheme showed just how important this support is for local people.
“We’ve been able to put hundreds of thousands of pounds back into the pockets of residents and this new scheme will help ensure more households receive support with the cost of heating their homes.
“If you’re eligible, don’t wait. Apply now and make sure you receive the support available.”
Applications can be made through the council’s website here – Crisis and Resilience Fund.
Anyone who needs help completing an application can visit their local community hub, where staff will be available to provide support. Hubs are in Ashby, Crowle, Barton, Brigg, Epworth, Riddings, Scunthorpe and Winterton.
