Pensioners across North Lincolnshire will be better supported this winter with a bold package of help from North Lincolnshire Council.

Older residents will receive extra fuel payments, free winter warm packs and low-energy appliances to cut bills and stay safe at home. They’ll also have the chance to build digital skills, which will boost confidence, tackle isolation and help people stay connected.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is about giving older people the security they deserve – safe, warm homes and the confidence to live independently. We’re backing our older residents with practical support that eases pressure today and builds resilience for tomorrow.”

It comes as part of a wider package of support for residents as food price inflation continues to rise.

Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for sustainability and transformation, said: “These schemes will put power in residents’ hands. Families will have money and essentials where they need them and pensioners will have peace of mind about heating and safety.

“At the same time, we are helping people gain skills and confidence, giving them the chance to take control, stay active and live well. It’s practical, it’s positive and it’s making a difference right across North Lincolnshire.”

Further details on each scheme, and how residents can take part, will be shared in the coming weeks, but residents don’t need to wait – they can find out more at the Active Ageing events across North Lincolnshire this October.

Friendly staff will be on hand to explain the support available, answer questions, and help people take the next step. There will be advice on keeping warm, saving money on bills, staying healthy and active, avoiding scams and much more.

You will also be able to apply for a free energy saving kitchen appliance if you are eligible and haven’t already done so.
