North Lincolnshire’s parks will be among hundreds of parks across the country taking part in Love Parks Week 2023, with a family picnic and live music among events planned.

The celebration will take place from 28 July to 6 August, bringing together local authorities, green space managers, landowners, residents and community organisations to celebrate and support the fantastic green spaces all across the country.

As part of Love Parks Week people can look forward to Scunthorpe Concert Band playing in Central Park on Sunday 30 July from 2pm to 4pm and the popular family event ‘Picnic in the Park’ in Baysgarth Park on Sunday 6 August from 12pm to 4pm.

Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for environment, commented: “Love Parks Week is the perfect opportunity to pop along to your local park or visit one of the area’s parks that you’ve not been to before, as well as a great chance to get involved with some of the events taking place.

“We have some fantastic green spaces in North Lincolnshire and just a few weeks ago we celebrated being awarded a sixth Green Flag Award.

“Thanks to the hard work of a dedicated workforce and committed volunteers, our parks and green spaces provide everyone with an opportunity to come together and lead healthy lifestyles.”

Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said: “The Love Parks campaign would not be possible without the backing of our local authority partners, including North Lincolnshire Council, park managers and landowners.

“The week is an opportunity for everyone to recognise the value of our parks and green spaces for communities, health and wellbeing, and to encourage groups within our communities that may not think of parks as a space for them to visit.”

This year’s campaign is made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
