Application window for £12,500 Galliford Try community project fund opens

Scunthorpe community groups are being invited to apply for a share of funding to make their project dreams a reality.

Funding can be provided in any combination of cash, materials or skilled labour to projects which will benefit the local community.

The £12,500 fund has been launched by contractor Galliford Try as part of the construction of the multi-million pound enterprise and innovation hub on Scunthorpe high street.

When completed, the site will bring hundreds of new jobs and new people into the town centre, providing 27,000 sq feet of premium office space, 46 apartments and more.

In applying for the project funding, groups must contribute to one or more of the following criteria:


Employment and skills

  • Potentially enhances the opportunity for people to gain employment through the activities they will be undertaking
  • Provides an environment for people to learn new skills, promoting education, health and wellbeing

Sustainability

  • Enhances the longevity of the community group by increasing the opportunity for membership and/or reducing operational costs
  • Reduces the community group’s impact on the environment
  • Contributes to or enhances the environment in the community

Economic regeneration

  • Revitalises a community asset

 

Expressions of interest are welcomed from community groups and organisations located in the Scunthorpe wards: Ashby Central, Ashby Lakeside, Brumby, Kingsway and Lincoln Gardens, Frodingham, Crosby & Park and Town.
