Information governance framework

Information governance is about how the council looks after one of its key corporate assets – the information it has access to. This information helps to meet customer needs, ensure good decision making and complies with legislation.

Information exists in different forms, such as on paper or in electronic files. It includes case files, paper documents, CCTV images and electronic documents in business systems, on network drives and within emails systems.

The  Information Governance Framework [PDF, 384Kb] outlines roles and responsibilities together with best practice and standards for managing the council’s information assets.
