This is Fostering is the theme for Foster Care Fortnight 2026, a national campaign that highlights what fostering really is and the difference it makes every day.
Foster Care Fortnight takes place from Sunday 11 May to Saturday 24 May, and is a chance to celebrate the incredible impact our foster carers have in transforming the lives of children and young people in care across North Lincolnshire, as well as encouraging more people to consider fostering.
To mark Foster Care Fortnight, a series of events will take place across North Lincolnshire, giving people the opportunity to meet the fostering team, find out more about fostering, and ask any questions they may have.
As part of the fortnight, the fostering team are hosting a Twilight Walk and Fun in the Park on Friday 15 May at Central Park, Scunthorpe. Arriving from 4.45pm, the evening will include a scavenger hunt around the park, family friendly activities held inside UCNL, and the chance to meet the fostering team and find out more about fostering. Simple show up on the evening or register your interest by filling out our interest form.
Whether you are looking to learn more, support fostering locally, or take the first step on your own fostering journey, we would love to see you at one of the events listed below.

Foster care is about providing a safe, nurturing and stable environment for our local children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families. Our children are at the heart of every community, and we believe they deserve the best chance in life – that’s where you come in.

North Lincolnshire Council knows people’s finances vary, and we don’t want money worries to stop you from considering fostering. We understand costs can be a concern, which is why we offer a very competitive financial package — often better than independent fostering agencies. For further details, please see our financial allowances and support page.
We are one of the first local authorities to implement a Council Tax rebate support package for our foster carers. Find out more on the Tax, benefits and Council Tax relief page.
Our newest fostering film “Fostering Changes Lives” was made in collaboration with fostering friendly members, foster carers and young people in care. Giving a real insight to how fostering changes not only a young person’s life but yours to. Produced by Know Film, one of our fostering friendly members.
