Looking to learn more about fostering? Come along to one of our information events, or join one of our virtual events, to discover more about the rewarding role of a foster parent.

Our fostering team are regularly out and about in the community, ready to chat and answer your questions about fostering. The informal information events are a great opportunity to dispel common myths, learn what fostering really involves and find out what support is available to you. Whether you’re just starting to think about fostering or ready to take the next steps, our team are here to help you begin your fostering journey today.

Upcoming events

  • Last Wednesday of every month – Monthly pop-up at Scunthorpe Library, between 4pm to 5pm (see information at the bottom of the page)
  • Thursday 23 April, The ropewalk pop up, 10am to 1pm, Maltkiln Rd, Barton-upon-Humber DN18 5JT
  • Friday 15 May, Foster Care Fortnight Twilight Walk & Scavenger Hunt, Arrive by 4.45pm to 6.30pm, Kingsway, Scunthorpe DN17 1BL, register to attend.

Online information evenings

If you’re thinking about taking the first step in your fostering journey, then our virtual fostering information evening is a great place to start!

The session will cover everything from fostering requirements and types of placements, to our training and support. You’ll gain an insight into what it’s really like to foster and the fantastic benefits of fostering with your council.

We know the process can seem daunting, that’s where our friendly team come in. We’ll talk you through all the steps involved and be on hand to answer any questions you have.

Every last Wednesday of the month between 4pm – 5pm the fostering team will be at the Scunthorpe Central Library, in Scunthorpe town centre. This will be running from January until November with a break off for Christmas.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about all different aspects of fostering.
