The council is consulting on the admission arrangements for all its schools in North Lincolnshire.

There are no changes from the 2026/27 admission arrangements, other than three schools have requested a reduction in their admission number:

Belton All Saints Church of England Primary School is proposing reducing its admission number from 32 to 30.

The current number of 32 is very difficult to manage in Key Stage 1 due to the infant class size regulations that require an infant class to have no more than 30 pupils. This can lead to mixed age classes, which are not ideal, and staffing them is a challenge.

With an increased number of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the school, large class sizes can become a health and safety concern.

Bottesford Infants School is proposing reducing its admission number from 70 to 60.

This will reduce the number of pupils from the infant school who cannot be allocated a place at Bottesford Junior School each year (due to its admission number of 66).

It will also enable the establishment of a dedicated Specialist Resource Provision for children with SEND, using the classroom that will be made available by the smaller intakes.

Messingham Primary School is proposing reducing its admission number from 42 to 30.

The number of children living in the catchment area for the next few intakes is projected to be under 30. The current admission number has led to two staffing restructures in the past six years, and the school would like to reduce the chance of further restructures, and ensure the school has a stable financial footing going forward.

Full copies of the proposed arrangements and further details of the consultation are available on the school admissions consultation page on our website.

The council has not been made aware of any own-admission authority schools that wish to consult on their admission arrangements alongside the council’s own consultation.

The Council’s consultations run until Friday 30 January 2026.

Parents and any other interested parties can send their comments on the proposed admission arrangements to Emily.Vickers@northlincs.gov.uk or via post to Emily Vickers, Access Manager (Admissions and Transport), North Lincolnshire Council, Church Square House, 30-40 High Street, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire DN15 6NL.
