North Lincolnshire Museum has been recognised with two prestigious awards at the Destination Lincolnshire Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25.
The Scunthorpe-based museum won Small Visitor Attraction of the Year and the Accessible & Inclusive Tourism Award.
The awards, judged in line with VisitEngland’s scoring criteria and a rigorous three-stage process led by an expert panel, recognise the very best in the region’s visitor economy.
As a result of this double victory, North Lincolnshire Museum will now go forward to represent the region at the national VisitEngland 2025 Awards for Excellence.
Also flying the flag for North Lincolnshire was Normanby Hall Country Park, which made it to the final shortlist in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category and 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, which was a finalist in the Arts, Heritage and Culture Award category.
Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities (urban), said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the museum, reflecting the hard work and dedication of the team.
“The museum continues to provide a high-quality, accessible experience for visitors, and we are delighted that this has been recognised at a regional level. I wish them every success as they go on to the national awards.”
Charlotte Goy, CEO of Destination Lincolnshire, said: “The Destination Lincolnshire Tourism Excellence Awards highlight the incredible visitor experiences we have in our region.
“It was fantastic to celebrate so many businesses and individuals who are working hard to make Lincolnshire a great place to visit.”
The museum’s commitment to accessibility was further recognised recently when it received the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society. To achieve this, organisations must meet set standards to create a welcoming environment for autistic visitors.
North Lincolnshire Museum is a partner in the Humber Museums Partnership, an Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation.
