Hospitality and leisure businesses can now apply for grant funding to help them protect jobs from the impact of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant will provide extra support to North Lincolnshire hospitality and leisure businesses which can demonstrate they have been further affected by the latest increase in Covid cases across the area.

North Lincolnshire Council is administering the scheme.

Council leader Cllr Rob Waltham said: “The Government reacted quickly to make this grant funding available for those businesses which need it and we’ve reacted will equal pace to ensure that the applications for the funding can be made quickly and efficiently.

“The impact of the latest Covid-19 cases mean certain businesses face additional challenges and pressures and this latest intervention to support businesses through difficult trading will be welcome indeed.

“We have had more than £200m from Government through the pandemic and that support continues.”

The grants are part of a £1bn fund announced by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak MP on 21 December 2021.

When launching the fund, he said: “We recognise that the spread of the Omicron variant means businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors are facing huge uncertainty, at a crucial time.

“So, we’re stepping in with £1bn of support, including a new grant scheme, the reintroduction of the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme and further funding released through the Culture Recovery Fund.”
