Digital bus displays are being installed across towns and villages in North Lincolnshire showing times of buses, real-time estimate for services, network messages for any changes or diversions and the full timetable to improve the passenger experience.

In total, 49 digital displays will be installed over the coming months as part of an initial phase of improving the bus network infrastructure. They will have text to speech functionality to read out upcoming services for passengers. Funded by the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) there will be a mixture of 13- and 23-inch battery-powered e-paper screens.

Residents will see the digital displays in Scunthorpe, Brigg, Barton-upon-Humber, Epworth, Broughton, Barrow-upon-Humber, Haxey and a few more locations.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, has been out to see one of the new digital displays in Broughton, he said:

“The installation of these smart digital bus displays marks a major step forward in making public transport more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly for everyone in North Lincolnshire. By providing real-time updates and audio announcements, we’re helping residents stay informed and connected—whether they’re commuting, visiting family, or exploring our towns and villages.

“Improving the passenger experience is a priority for us as and we are continually looking at ways to develop public transport and connectivity across North Lincolnshire.”
