North Lincolnshire Council is inviting residents to take part in a consultation regarding proposed changes to speed limits in the village of Althorpe in a bid to improve road safety.
The proposals include the introduction of 20mph speed limits on the following roads:
- Main Street
- Kelsey Lane
- Ferry Road
- Church Lane
- Neville Close
- Vermuyden Court
- Hawthorne Way
- Poplar Crescent
In addition, 40mph speed limits are proposed for:
- A18 between Althorpe and Keadby (covering approximately 550 metres)
- Main Street, from its junction with the A18 heading south to the start of the proposed 20mph zone
If approved, it would be the latest in several 20mph speed limits to roll out across North Lincolnshire, including Burringham and Barton-upon-Humber.
Cllr Neil Poole, deputy leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“We take road safety very seriously and are committed to making our roads safer for everyone – pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. These 20mph schemes have been shown to be effective in improving road safety. Not only does it improve safety, but it reduces emissions, helping to enhance air quality. Working with the parish council, these proposals for Althorpe have been put forward.
“I would encourage residents to have their say on the proposals for their community.”
The consultation will begin on 2 October 2025, and full details will be available to view on the council’s website. Any comments on the proposals must be submitted no later than 23 October 2025.
