No longer just a leisure centre, Live Well Isle of Axholme, the newly extended facility on Burnham Road, Epworth, now provides a space for people to keep active, connect with others, access information, advice and guidance, and take part in a range of activities that will improve their health and wellbeing and enable them to live well.

Since Epworth library relocated to the new building in July, 157 children have taken part in the Summer Reading Challenge which is a 175 per cent increase of the number of children using Epworth Library who took part in the challenge last year.

Councillor Tim Mitchell, who officially opened Live Well Isle of Axholme on 3 September, said: “This is a wonderful facility for the Isle of Axholme community, contributing to a huge investment in our rural areas by bringing a range of council services to your doorstep and reducing the need for unnecessary travel to access essential services.

“It’s not only keen readers who have benefitted from the investment; there are now extended opening hours, 7.15am fitness classes for those who like to get active early, Why Weight?, smoking cessation, and Cook4Life sessions delivered by the Healthy Lifestyles team, and community groups are enjoying using the new facilities for meetings and activities.

“It’s so good to see and hear how the extended facility is enhancing the health and wellbeing of our Isle of Axholme residents.”

Live Well Isle of Axholme is home to:

Epworth Library

You can browse, borrow and return books whenever the building is open and, thanks to a £34,000 grant from the Severn Trent Community Fund facilitated by North Lincolnshire Children’s Literacy Trust, there’s a dedicated children’s library area, ensuring that children and families can access books and grow a love of reading to support their future life opportunities.

There are also public access computers, printing facilities and, if you need advice on things like Blue Badges and Travel Passes you can make an appointment to access this support.

NL Active

In addition to the gym, sports hall, squash courts, outdoor multi-use games area, skate park, and 3G football facility, a fitness studio has now been added to the NL Active offer, providing a dedicated space for group fitness classes and the newly introduced Les Mills Virtual classes.

Les Mills Virtual classes are delivered on a large screen and with cinematic quality videos, surround sound, and atmospheric lighting, the workouts are an immersive experience that will push you to get the most out of your workout.
