Players and fans can now benefit from upgraded facilities at Brigg Town FC CIC thanks to support from North Lincolnshire Council.
The renovations – including the development of the changing room pavilion and community kitchen – have upgraded the space, made possible by a £50,000 grant from the council.
This initial investment played a crucial role in unlocking more than £1m in funding from other sources. By acting as match funding, the council’s contribution enabled the club to secure further grants and financial support to deliver the full scope of the project.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“It is fantastic to see major developments like this happening in our communities. This investment at Brigg Town FC will not only benefit the club and fans but the wider community who can use the space.
“This investment reflects our commitment to strengthening local communities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to come together, stay active, and feel connected.”
The funding, awarded through the council’s Community Grant Fund, forms part of a wider project to develop the club, which has also seen the installation of a 3G football turf and floodlit pitch, and refurbishment of the clubhouse. The new facilities can be used by the community throughout the year, and the club will work closely with the council, Brigg Town Council, local schools, community organisations and voluntary groups to participate in sport, physical activity and social activities.
The club already hosts a weekly dementia group and is planning to establish a new disability football team and walking football for people aged 50 and over.
Brigg Town FC CIC Director, Jim Huxford, said:
“This is a project for Brigg and for the future. Brigg Town FC is a community facility, and we owe massive thanks to our supporters and volunteers for their continued support. Without them we would not have such a bright future ahead.”
This investment follows on from a £50,000 UKSPF (UK Shared Prosperity Fund) grant that the club received in 2024 towards extending the changing facilities and creating a training and community space.
Since launching in 2011, the Community Grant Fund has pumped millions into grassroots projects across the region – from sports clubs and youth groups to charities and parish councils – helping to strengthen communities and support local talent.
Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture. Support is also available for venue hire, helping keep community spaces open and active.
