North Lincolnshire Council awarded £15,000 to support the delivery of the 2025 Messingham Horse and Foal Show – an event that brings family entertainment, show jumping, live music, funfair, a variety of food and drink, plus much more.

The 118th show, held on Saturday 7 June 2025, was supported by thousands of people of all ages. With so much to see and do, it makes the ideal day out for families across the region.

Funding was provided through the council’s Community Grant Fund, which supports local groups and events that help communities thrive. The show’s total budget was nearly £22,000, with organisers raising £5,891 themselves and receiving an additional £1,000 from Messingham Parish Council.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Messingham Show is a key highlight on the calendar every year – not just for Messingham residents, but for people travelling from all over North Lincolnshire. It supports local businesses and brings the local community together, offering a fantastic day out for all ages.

“We are proud to support Messingham Show, a cherished local tradition, through the Community Grant Fund. It shows what a difference the funding actually makes to local groups.”

The funding has come from North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Scheme, which backs local groups and projects that help communities thrive. To find out more about the scheme, including how to apply, visit the North Lincolnshire Council website.

Since its enhancement in 2011, North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund has channelled millions of pounds into community-led projects. From youth groups and charities to town and parish councils, hundreds of initiatives have benefited – each one a testament to the resilience and creativity of local residents.

Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture.
