Voluntary litter picks

We work hard to keep the area clean and free of litter. We actively encourage communities to arrange voluntary litter picks.

If you would like to organise a voluntary litter pick event in your area please read and sign the Guidance for Voluntary Litter Picking [PDF, 394Kb] even if you do not wish to borrow any equipment.

How to arrange:

  • Complete a Risk Assessment [PDF, 29.9Kb] as per this example and communicate associated risks to all volunteers
  • Complete a Registration for Voluntary Litter Picks  [PDF, 155Kb]
  • When you have completed these three documents, please send them to neighbourhoodservices@northlincs.gov.uk or Voluntary Litter Picks, 8-9 Billet Lane, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN15 9YH.
  • One of our officers will contact you to discuss details within 10 working days of receiving the completed registration form.

Equipment and bag collection request

If you have signed up as an individual or small group to litter pick you local area and would like to request addition equipment or arrange for bags to be collected, please use the form below.

Litter picking pods

You may have also noticed one of the new, bright pink, litter picking pods!

These eight fully equipped volunteer litter picking pods are there to give anyone the opportunity, and tools to litter pick anywhere at any time.

The pods will include bin bags, bag hoops, grabbers, gloves and hi-vis vests.

The pods are really easy to use, simply take what equipment you need, pick as much or as little as you want into one of the red bags provided, then return the equipment and bag of litter back to the pod. Bags of litter can also be placed next to any council bin for collection, as well as next to the pod.
