On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS)

The On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme, known as ORCS funding, looks to install charge points in on-street parking areas, like terraced streets, allowing residents to charge their vehicles at home. For many, electric vehicle charging happens off-road in garages and driveways. However, off-street parking is not available to everyone. By installing charge points on streets, this will provide facilities for those without a driveway.

North Lincolnshire Council have partnered with Ubitricity to install 35 charge points in areas across North Lincolnshire to support residents to charge their EV close to their home property. The Electric Vehicle Charge Points (EVCP’s) are connected to existing street lights or in the form of a bollard where the street light it situated at the back of the footpath (to avoid trailing cables).

The charge points are slow speed (5.3kW) and are designed for users to charge their vehicles overnight or at a slow speed throughout the day.

LEVI – Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund

The Office of Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) has allocated North Lincolnshire Council £925,000 of capital funding from the Local Electric Vehicles Infrastructure (LEVI) fund to expand our provision of EV charging infrastructure across the area. The LEVI fund is primarily targeted at addressing the need for EV charge points in areas with lower levels of residential off-street parking, as EV owners who park on-street will need to rely more heavily on the public charging network.
