Anyone considering the upgrade to an electric vehicle is invited to our free Charging Ahead event at Normanby Hall Country Park on Friday 20 October, 9am – 1pm.

The event will feature talks from subject matter experts, businesses who have made the switch to electric vehicles, and representatives from EV dealerships.

Visitors can also find out about installing charging points at their home or business, energy efficiency, the support available and financial initiatives.

There will also be the opportunity to test drive more than 20 EVs, including cars, bikes, vans, scooters and mobility vehicles.

The council will be showcasing its EV strategy, part of the pledge to go net zero by 2030 and help North Lincolnshire become greener and more sustainable, part of our Green Future strategy.

Anyone with an interest in switching to electric is welcome, including:

• Businesses considering transitioning to electric or hybrid – either a single vehicle or a whole fleet
• Land and property owners wanting to install charging points for customers
• Residents interested in installing a charging point at home and changing their existing vehicle for an electric one.

Leader of the council Rob Waltham will be speaking to guests, along with Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for environment at the council.

Cllr Rose said: “We’ve all heard about electric vehicles and making the switch to cleaner, cheaper transport, but a lot of us would like to find out more about it.

“At this event you’ll be able to try out different vehicles, talk to dealers and specialists and hear first-hand accounts from people who have made the switch – all in a no-pressure atmosphere.

“I am sure you will find the Charging Ahead event interesting and informative and I look forward to welcoming you there.”

Other speakers will include:

  • The Energy Saving Trust
  • Northern PowerGrid
  • Rocal
  • Systra

Vehicles from dealers including Tesla, Vauxhall, Mercedes, Nissan, Hyundai, Renault, MG and many more will be available to drive. Attendees will be contacted prior to the event with details of how to sign up for a test drive.
