The spirit of Christmas is coming to Kirton in Lindsey this year with a sustainable twist thanks to the generous Community Grant Fund through North Lincolnshire Council.
The £751 grant will fund the hire of a sustainable Christmas tree, a beautiful and eco-conscious centrepiece that reflects the town’s commitment to both tradition and sustainability.
The tree will stand proudly in the heart of the community, bringing people together to celebrate the season with warmth and joy and will be lit up in all its glory at this year’s Christmas Festival tonight.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Christmas in Kirton is all about community – bringing people together, celebrating what makes the town special, and doing it in a way that’s thoughtful and inclusive.
“The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of local spirit, with something for everyone to enjoy.
“Visitors can explore a craft and gift market and sample delicious food from local vendors in the Town Hall and Market Place. Sylvester Street will be buzzing with fairground rides and additional food stalls, while local shops will be open to welcome festive shoppers and spread seasonal cheer.
“This grant will help make the Christmas Festival even more magical while also making environmentally friendly and sustainable choices for the future.”
To help spread the festive cheer even further, the grant will also cover the purchase of selection boxes, which will be gifted to local children during the festival.
Since launching in 2011, the Community Grant Fund has pumped millions into grassroots projects across the region – from sports clubs and youth groups to charities and parish councils – helping to strengthen communities and support local talent.
Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture. Support is also available for venue hire, helping keep community spaces open and active.
