Brigg Community Hub is set to benefit from a series of improvements designed to enhance the facilities available for local residents – part of North Lincolnshire Council’s ongoing commitment to investing in libraries, even as others across the country face closure.
The children’s library will be relocated to the ground floor, making it easier for families to access and enjoy. In addition, a brand-new adult reading room and study area will be created on the second floor, providing visitors with more space to learn, relax and make use of the hub’s resources.
To allow this work to take place safely, there will be temporary changes to access between Monday 15 September and Wednesday 17 September. On Monday and Wednesday, the hub will operate with a partial closure, with book enquiries, information, advice, printing and scanning services available via the Market Place entrance. On these days, the main library, children’s library, and public PCs will not be accessible. A full closure will be in place on Tuesday 16 September.
The council is investing in these changes to ensure Brigg Community Hub continues to meet the needs of residents, providing modern, accessible, and welcoming spaces for everyone. The hub will re-open as normal on Thursday 18 September, when visitors will be able to enjoy the improved facilities.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Brigg Community Hub plays a vital role for local people, and these improvements will make a real difference. By moving the children’s library to the ground floor and adding a dedicated adult reading and study space, we are making sure the hub is more welcoming and accessible. It will continue to be a place where residents of all ages can learn, enjoy, and come together.”
Cllr Carl Sherwood, ward councillor for Brigg and Wolds, added: “While other councils are closing libraries, we’re investing in them. These improvements to Brigg Community Hub show our commitment to keeping libraries at the heart of our communities – places where people can connect, learn and thrive.”
