Tourist attractions, restaurants and businesses across North Lincolnshire are celebrating after being shortlisted in the Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-2025.
Barton Upon Humber is one of just five finalists in a brand-new category, The Pride in Your Place Award, which celebrates towns that offer an outstanding tourism provision, a strong sense of community, a warm welcome for visitors, and more.
Three attractions managed by North Lincolnshire Council – North Lincolnshire Museum, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, and Normanby Hall Country Park – have all made the shortlist, and are joined by Barton’s Ropewalk, Skydive Hibaldstow and San Pietro, the Scunthorpe-based Italian restaurant and hotel.
All six finalists are members of the Visit North Lincolnshire Tourism Partnership, a scheme that raises the profile of North Lincolnshire as a visitor destination of choice and unlocks fantastic benefits to help participating businesses promote their offer.
Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for transforming the customer journey at North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“Congratulations to all the amazing attractions and businesses that have been nominated for a Tourism Excellence Award. To have six finalists from our region is truly a fantastic achievement.
“Each and every one of these attractions work tirelessly to offer a fantastic experience for their customers and put North Lincolnshire on the map as the best place to visit. I’d like to wish all six finalists the best of luck ahead of the ceremony, but I know you are all winners to your visitors.”
20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Scunthorpe town centre has been shortlisted in the Arts, Heritage, and Culture category.
The recognition comes at an exciting time for the centre, with Discover@2021, a free family-friendly attraction designed to help children express their creativity, launching spring 2025.
Across town, North Lincolnshire Museum are finalists in two categories, the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award and Small Visitor Attraction of the Year.
The Museum’s brand-new exhibition will showcase North Lincolnshire’s Anglo-Saxon treasures. The exhibition, called The Hidden Valley, opens on Saturday 16 November.
The much-loved Normanby Hall Country Park has also been shortlisted in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category, ahead of the biggest events in its calendar – the popular Christmas Market on 7 and 8 December.
The full shortlist can be found on the Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland Tourism Awards website. Winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the Lincolnshire Showground on Friday 28 February 2025.
