14:54, Monday, 27th March 2023

The official start of the election period for North Lincolnshire Council begins today.

Each of the 43 council seats across the 19 wards are available, alongside all (44) town and parish councils in North Lincolnshire.

Voting will take place on Thursday, 4 May 2023 with residents choosing who they want to represent them on North Lincolnshire Council.

Those elected will make decisions about the development of North Lincolnshire and what the council’s priorities are.

Get involved

There are a number of ways people can vote, either in person at a polling station, by post or by proxy but you must be registered.

For the first time in North Lincolnshire, as with the rest of the UK, voters will need to show approved types of photo ID to staff at polling stations when they cast their vote.

Passports issued by the UK, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, British Overseas Territories, EEA states or Commonwealth countries will be accepted.

So too are driving licences, Blue Badges, Older Person and Disabled Person’s bus passes, Oyster 60+ Cards and Freedom Passes.

Identity cards bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (a PASS card), biometric immigration documents, Defence Identity Cards and national identity cards issued by EEA states are also accepted.

Only one form of photo ID is needed but it must be the original version and not a photocopy.

Those who do not have any of the above can apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate through the Government’s on-line portal (details below).

The deadline to register to vote is 11.59 pm on 17 April, 2023
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on 18 April 2023
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on 25 April. 2023

Further details are available on the council’s website too.
