The community heart of Roxby is set for a major boost, with a new roof and upgraded blinds, transforming the much-loved facility into a warmer, more energy-efficient, and welcoming space for local residents.
Thanks to a £10,944 grant from North Lincolnshire Council, and additional funding from the centre itself, this £12,216 project will breathe new life into a vital community hub that brings people together.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Community spaces like Roxby Community Centre are the beating heart of our towns and villages. We’re proud to back projects that bring people together, strengthen neighbourhood bonds, and create places where everyone feels welcome. This investment will have a real and lasting impact on the people of Roxby.”
Cllr Elaine Marper added: “The upgrades will not only improve the look and feel of the building but also help cut heating costs and improve sustainability, making the centre more comfortable and cost-effective to run for years to come.”
To date, millions of pounds have been channelled into community-led ventures and each one is a testament to the spirit and resilience of residents.
North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund delivers investment in junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, trusts, co-operatives, industrial and provident societies, not-for-profit constituted organisations, and town and parish councils. Individual grants are also available if you can demonstrate excellence in sport, art or culture. Junior and youth groups can also apply for grants for premises hire. Since 2011 when the grant was first upgraded, hundreds of projects have benefited from £millions in funding for communities right across North Lincolnshire.
