Two major community projects in Bottesford have seen a £320,000 boost from North Lincolnshire Council to improve vital facilities in the area.
£200,000 will be provided to Bottesford Football Club to improve indoor gym facilities at their Barrett Steel Stadium. Bottesford Town are a long-established and thriving community football club founded in 1974. The club supports over 24 teams ranging from under sevens to senior level, including inclusive teams such as a Down Syndrome team, Special Olympics team, and Wildcats for girls, reflecting its deep commitment to community engagement and accessibility.
In recent years, Bottesford Town has also received significant support from North Lincolnshire Council, working in partnership with the Football Foundation, Lincolnshire FA, and other stakeholders to secure a £1.5 million grant. This funding has enabled the development of a new floodlit 3G pitch, enhanced grass pitches, and improved facilities including covered seating and disability access.
£120,000 is being made available to Bottesford Town Council for Bottesford Pavilion to create more inclusive access for a growing number of community users with new toilet facilities. In addition, more energy efficient heating and lighting will be installed.
The pavilion is available for party and group hire, including: birthdays, christenings, weddings, baby showers, funeral teas and afternoon teas and has kitchen facilities and free car parking.
The funding is made available through North Lincolnshire Council’s management of the United Kingdom Shared Prosperity Fund.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “I am proud that we are able keep our promise to keep investing in communities here in North Lincolnshire, these are two great projects that will support hundreds of residents to see improved access for sporting and community activities.”
Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for communities added: “Both of these facilities will benefit greatly from this cash boost. Hundreds of residents use these facilities every week and this investment will enable them to have an improved experience. I would like to thank the amazing community volunteers who support activities to take place in both of these venues, helping to bring together people of all ages.”
