Attendees at the first ever North Lincolnshire Ambassador’s charity gala dinner helped raised almost £12,000 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

The event, organised by the North Lincolnshire Ambassador Programme, was designed to bring together business leaders to celebrate their collective successes and to raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice – which is the Mayor of North Lincolnshire Cllr Jonathan Evison’s Charity of the Year.

More than 200 business leaders attended the event at Forest Pines on Thursday 10 October – raising money through sponsorship, table sales, and donations together with charity casino tables.

David Clugston, chairman of the North Lincolnshire Place Marketing Board, said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will hopefully establish itself as a highlight of the business calendar in North Lincolnshire going forward.

“Thank you to everyone who attended; thank you to the sponsors who made it possible; and thank you to everyone who dug deep. To raise the money is brilliant, but to be able to do so by bringing together businesses from across the region and beyond to celebrate their successes makes it even better.

“There is a tremendous collective effort to grow the profile of North Lincolnshire that was self-evident just by being on the room.”

Attendees heard about the economic successes in North Lincolnshire including rail upgrades, flood defences as well as road improvements and developments, the number of homes being built, the opening of the University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL) and how businesses are choosing to invest taking advantage of the excellent skills base, the fantastic infrastructure and the vital business support available in North Lincolnshire.

The event also heard from Dr Wayne Martindale, a professor of food sustainability and insights from the University of Lincoln’s National Centre for Food Manufacture who spoke about innovation and business growth.

Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Cllr Jonathan Evison, said: “It was an incredible evening, there was business being done in the room, new connections being made and the positivity in the room was palpable.

“For too long North Lincolnshire has punched below its weigh but now people are starting to sit up and take note. It is a great place to be, to live, to invest, to work, and to enjoy and by bringing together the key business leaders to be able to celebrate this success is really important.

“To be able to do this and raise so much money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice is incredible – it shows the generosity of the business community and their understanding of their role not just to increase profits but as an essential part of the community of North Lincolnshire – enabling communities to flourish is everyone’s business.”
