Help shape the future of armed forces support in North Lincolnshire

North Lincolnshire Council is holding the biggest ever conversation with the armed forces community to help shape the support needed.

A consultation has launched and is inviting the armed forces community and local organisations which provide support to have their say on how the council delivers further support as part of the Armed Forces Covenant.

The council – which is recognised nationally in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme – is committed to supporting serving members of the military, veterans, and their families.

Anyone wishing to take part has until Friday 18 February to have their say. Visit the consultations page to take part.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“People who serve or have served in the armed forces sacrifice so much for our country; this deserves to be honoured and recognised. We are fully committed to helping those in the armed forces community.

“We would like to hear from as many people as possible in the armed forces community to help us shape the future design of the support provided. Make sure you have your say by completing the consultation.”

In 2020 the council received the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award – the highest accolade – because of a commitment to armed forces reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, ex-serving personnel, the military, and their families.

Cllr Elaine Marper, Armed Forces Champion for North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“I am honoured to be an advocate for the armed forces community and want to make sure that they are recognised for their sacrifices and dedication.

“I would urge serving members, veterans and their families to take part in the consultation to ensure the support is fit for purpose and help determine how services are provided in the future.

“The council has made significant developments through the North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Covenant, therefore it is important to sustain this and build upon the brilliant work already undertaken.”
