Grants of up to £30,000 available for local community projects

Community groups across North Lincolnshire will be able to apply for grants of between £10,000 and £30,000 thanks to the SSE Sustainable Development Fund.

Created as part of the £8.5m community benefit programme from SSE’s Keadby wind farm, the fund is available to non-profit making organisations, community groups and charities from across North Lincolnshire.

This round of grant applications starts on Monday 15 November and closes on 20 January and £139,500 is available.

Grants can cover projects to improve education and employment, develop long-term social, environmental or economic improvements or make a lasting difference to local infrastructure, biodiversity, heritage or landscape.

Previous successful applications include:

• Epworth Bowls Club for installation of new portacabin
• Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for improving Far Ings Visitor Centre
• Friendz & Co for purchasing equipment for a training kitchen
• The Conservation Volunteers for restoring Twigmoor Woods site at Holme near Scunthorpe

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children and families, said:

“This is a great opportunity for local organisations to receive funds that can make a real and lasting difference to their communities. For this round of funding, they are particularly interested in supporting green or heritage projects.

“I have seen how previous grants have helped sports clubs, charities and environmental organisations and would urge local groups to apply.”
