New businesses can apply for a share of £150,000 grant funding that will provide support towards initial ICT related costs, while helping to grow the local economy.

As part of the start-up grant scheme, £1,000 of funding is available to support projects with a total spend of £2,000 to £2,500.

Eligible businesses could use the cash to invest in the following areas:

  • ICT back-up systems
  • Specialist software
  • Purchasing one PC or laptop
  • Building a first website, securing a domain name or funding web hosting services
  • Digital Marketing, including search engine optimisation (SEO), pay-per-click marketing or analytics
  • Hardware such as printers, monitors and scanners

The grant is aimed at small or medium sized enterprises, in their first year of business.

The council received more than £30m from the government at the end of March 2020, and has protected the economy by providing more than £30m in grant funding to more than 2,600 businesses. These support measures are targeted specifically at small businesses, and include both Small Business Grants and Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grants.
