Get Wild About The Earth at our latest free Discover day this month

The next amazing Discover event is taking place on Saturday 29 April from 11am to 4pm.

Aimed at families with children aged five to eleven, Discover is a FREE day of hands-on fun that helps young minds understand some of the world’s biggest issues.

With a Wild About The Earth theme, Discover brings dozens of fun events and mind-blowing experiences all together in and around Scunthorpe’s Church Square.

Events will be taking place in  UTC Northern Lincolnshire, Scunthorpe Central, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre and Church Square itself.

The event is free and there is no need to book – just turn up between 11am and 4pm.

Among the experiences taking place at the next Discover are Lion Learners, giving youngsters the opportunity to get up close with animals. There will also be the chance to see some amazing owls face to face.

Dizzy O’Dare showcase the extraordinary talents of three majestic birds of prey – with no real birds – and their expert handler. You will belly laugh through the raucous, anarchic and wild ride that is Falconry Dismay!

The popular Lab Rascals are back, helping would-be archaeologists hunt for fossils and make magnets to take home.

There will also be the chance to make awe-inspiring dry ice volcanoes that actually rumble and shake.

Wessex Archaeology are bringing two virtual reality headsets that let participants walk through historic buildings and landscapes.

The Owl and the Pussy Cat by Murmuration Arts is a fantastic show that will serenade adults and children alike.

Mini First Aid will be showing young paramedics how to save a life and Humberside Police, Fire and Rescue will be on hand with vehicles demonstrations.

You can even find out what it is like to sit in a bin lorry.

There will also be dozens of other fantastic performances, crafts, talks and activities throughout the day – look out for Guardian of the Galaxy’s Groot!
