Residents can travel to this year’s Armed Forces Day festival at Normanby Hall completely free of charge, thanks to a new partnership with local operator Hornsbys.

A fully accessible park and ride service will run every 20 minutes throughout the day on Saturday 20 June, taking visitors from Scunthorpe Bus Station directly to Normanby Hall Country Park.

The service is being delivered as part of Hornsbys’ Cadet Command sponsorship of the event, helping ensure the day is accessible for everyone – including wheelchair users and families travelling with young children.

Entry to Normanby and parking is free for the Armed Forces Day festival. Dogs on a lead will be allowed.

Council car parks across North Lincolnshire will also be free on the day, helping to ease traffic and reduce pressure around Normanby Hall.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We want Armed Forces Day to be open, accessible and easy for everyone to attend. Thanks to Hornsbys’ sponsorship, people can simply turn up at the bus station and travel straight to the festival without worrying about parking or cost.

“It makes the day more inclusive and helps keep traffic moving smoothly.”

Karl Robinson, general manager at Hornsbys, said: “We are proud to support Armed Forces Day and to help make travel simple and free for residents.

“Working together ensures the move to Normanby Hall runs seamlessly and that everyone can enjoy what promises to be a fantastic event.”

The Armed Forces Day festival will feature parades, military displays, living history, live music and family activities, all set against the historic backdrop of Normanby Hall – which itself played an important role during both World Wars.

Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for transforming the customer journey, added: “This is about removing barriers so everyone can come together to recognise the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community. Easy, free transport helps make sure no one misses out – and entry to Normanby Hall is free on the day too.”

The festival takes place on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

A full timetable for the free bus service will be published ahead of the event, but they’ll be running every 20 mins from Scunthorpe bus station from 9.40am.
