Crosby Primary School’s kitchen staff crowned school catering team of the year

The catering team at Crosby Primary School in North Lincolnshire have won a national award for primary school catering team of the year.

The award aims to give recognition to a primary school catering team which has made an outstanding contribution to raising the profile of education catering within the school and its local community.

The team were nominated for the award for their continuous hard work and dedication during the pandemic.

They adapted their way of working to safely be able to serve a fresh and healthy two course meal for pupils at school, as well as hot grab bags and meal packages for children and families who were isolating.

The Local Authority Catering in Education (LACA) is the leading body that represents the delivery of excellence in school food.

An annual LACA awards ceremony is held to celebrate and recognise outstanding individuals and organisations within the industry.

The annual awards ceremony was held on Friday 30 September, where Crosby Primary School catering team were announced as the winners of the LACA award and crowned school catering team of the year.

Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for commercial said: “This award is an amazing achievement for the team and recognition for their continuous dedication and hard work; they truly deserve it.

“They made it past 17 other schools to be crowned with the title of school catering team of the year.

“It is at times of crisis when a service and a team show their true determination and commitment to the job and their customers.

“The Crosby team certainly went the extra mile to provide the best service possible to all who needed it during a very challenging time”
