North Lincolnshire Council is ready for the elections tomorrow (Thursday 2 May) and the huge task of counting the votes for the local (North Lincolnshire Council) and town and parish councils.
The count is taking place at The Pods leisure centre in Scunthorpe. This will close to the public from 8.30pm on Thursday 2 May and reopen as normal on Friday 3 May. The sports hall is unavailable from today (Wednesday 2 May) and will reopen on Saturday 4 May.
The 116 polling stations across North Lincolnshire will open from 7am to 10pm tomorrow.
The local count will take place first, following verification of ballot papers (ensuring the number of ballot papers match what it says on the box and checking for spoilt papers). The declaration is expected between 5am and 6am on Friday 3 May.
Seventy two people will be counting the votes for both elections.
The count for the town and parish councils will start at 12.30pm on Friday 3 May.
The number of people registered to vote is 129,701. The number of residents in North Lincolnshire eligible to vote (i.e those 18 and over) is 133,409. This is from ONS mid-year estimates 2013 which is the most up-to-date information we have.
The council has issued 24,449 post votes; 10 postal votes have been sent abroad.
