Support local charities at Mayor’s farewell afternoon tea

To celebrate coming to the end of her year in office, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Cllr Janet Longcake is hosting a farewell afternoon tea to raise much-needed donations for the Mayor’s Appeal Fund.  

The farewell reception at The Wortley Hotel in Scunthorpe is on 4 April 2024 from 1pm to 4pm. It costs £3 a ticket and is pay on the door, which includes tea or coffee and a cake. Additional cakes will be available to buy. A raffle will also be held.

The mayor’s chosen charities are Hope House Bosom Family Support (BFS) and Scunthorpe and Macmillan Cancer Support Scunthorpe.  

Tracy Brown, Hope House BFS, said: 

“Being a part of the Mayor’s Appeal Fund has been a fantastic opportunity for our charity to raise our profile and reach out to even more families affected by cancer.  

“It has also enabled us to raise vital funds to continue with the help and support we provide in the local area. We would like to thank the mayor for choosing us, we are so grateful, and it means a lot to a small charity like ours.”

Josephine Lees, Chairperson for Scunthorpe Macmillan Fundraising Committee, said: 

“Scunthorpe Macmillan Fundraising Committee are grateful for the opportunity to join the Mayor of North Lincolnshire in her year of office. We have enjoyed working alongside BFS and raising money for two amazing charities.” 

Since becoming Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Cllr Janet Longcake has held numerous fundraising events for the two charities. She said: 

“I would like to thank both MacMillian Cancer Support and Hope House for all their hard work and commitment. It has been a pleasure to work with and raise money for two local charities that provide vital support for families in North Lincolnshire.”
