Keen gardeners and recyclers can join the compost revolution with a special offer giving North Lincolnshire residents the chance to buy a compost bin for just £15.
The 330-litre bins are ideal for anyone starting out on the composting adventure to transform kitchen and garden waste into nutrient-rich food for your garden.
Composting at home for a year can save global warming gases equivalent to all the CO2 a kettle produces yearly or a washing machine in three months.
A maximum of two bins per customer can be ordered via this form and must be pre-paid. Last date for orders is Sunday 5 May 2024.
They can be collected in a preselected time slot from Cottage Beck Road depot, Scunthorpe, during Compost Awareness Week, Sunday 5 May to Sunday 12 May – more information is on the order confirmation email.
Officers will be on hand to distribute bins and give composting advice.
The bins can also be home delivered for an additional £9.
Composting isn’t just for garden rubbish – it is amazing the household waste that can be tossed into a composter, freeing up space in your other bins as well as cutting carbon emissions:
- Wood ash from log burners and barbecues
- Vegetarian pet bedding
- Algae and aquarium plants
- Sawdust
- Human hair and pet fur
- Tissues and paper towels
- Old bills, envelopes, confidential paperwork, shredded paper
- Frayed woolly socks and worn out cotton t-shirts
- Plastic-free tea bags and coffee
- Greasy pizza boxes
More information is available on the composting page on our website.
