Isle of Axholme high streets have reopened with a plea for shoppers to buy local.

Businesses have been working with North Lincolnshire Council to ensure social distancing measures are in place and adhered to as opening restrictions on non-essential shops were lifted on Monday.

Despite a large number of people visiting the town centres, shoppers have been behaving responsibly and helping avoid a local outbreak of Covid-19.

In Crowle, traders reported that visitors were following queuing guidelines by keeping two metres apart and on the number of people allowed in stores at once.

Many town centre shops quickly diversified as people stayed at home, offering delivery services or opening for essential items.

Chairman of Epworth Business Forum, Dave Woods, said the first few days had been busy ones for the town and he hoped the rest of the week would be the same.

“So far it is so good and the social distancing restrictions seem to be working well.

“We are hoping the people who have used us when we set up delivery and click and collect services will stick by us and realise what good service they get from local shops”, he said.
