Oh yes it did.
A giant beanstalk of a success has taken over Baths Hall, with a record-smashing 34,294 people flocking through the doors this Christmas to enjoy Jack and the Beanstalk.
That makes this year’s pantomime the most successful show ever staged at Baths Hall, officially breaking box office records and proving once and for all that North Lincolnshire knows how to do panto properly.
Families from across the area packed out performance after performance, cheering the heroes, booing the baddies and shouting “he’s behind you!” as the festive favourite delivered big laughs, dazzling sets and all the larger-than-life moments that make pantomime so special.
Of course, no fairy tale ending happens by magic alone.
Written and directed by Darren Johnson, who also stars as the legendary Dame Annie Fanny, the record-breaking run is thanks to the combined efforts of a brilliant cast, a tireless crew and the dedicated front-of-house teams who made sure every audience member felt safe, welcome and left with a smile on their face.
Councillor John Davison, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities (urban) said: “Oh yes, it was a success – and what a success.
“Seeing more than 34,000 people enjoy the Baths Hall this Christmas is something everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.
“The pantomime is a highlight of the festive season for so many families, and this year’s Jack and the Beanstalk truly raised the bar.
“It shows the huge value of our cultural venues, not just in bringing joy and entertainment, but in bringing families and communities together.”
