A new bus pass system has launched allowing residents to create an account to apply, renew and replace their bus passes online, as well as updating their personal details.

The new system will make it easier for people to apply for a bus pass as they can do it from the comfort of their own home, at any time. Previously if anyone was applying for a bus pass, renewing or requesting a replacement they would have to go to their local community hub taking their proof of eligibility.

Now residents have the option to use the service online or they can still go to their community hub.

Bus passes are available for older residents or those with qualifying disabilities to travel for free across North Lincolnshire.

Access the new bus pass portal online.

To find out if you are eligible, visit the apply for a bus pass page.

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for independent families – children, with responsibility for public transport, said:

“This new system will make it so much easier for those applying for bus passes or people who need to renew their bus pass or get one replaced. The only way to access bus pass services before was to go into a community hub, which isn’t always convenient. We were keen to make the process a lot easier, so now residents can go online at a time that suits them.

“The community hubs still offer the bus pass service for anyone who doesn’t have access to a computer or device, or simply just prefers speaking to someone; we now just have another option for residents.”

How to use the online bus pass system

  • Select ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for whether you already have a bus pass. If ‘yes’ you will then be asked if you already have an account, if no – you will go to account creation, if yes – you can login to your account. If you don’t have a bus pass you will need to set up an account.
  • Create your account – this must be done before applying, renewing or requesting a replacement. You will be asked for your email address, to create a password and provide details such as name, address and date of birth. A confirmation email will be sent when done.
  • If you already have a bus pass, you will be asked for the last 8 digits of the bus pass number to confirm your account. You can then manage your card, renew, replace lost passes (for a fee) update any details such as address or phone number.
  • If you don’t already have a bus pass, you can then apply for your bus pass by providing proof documents – these can be scanned or photographed and uploaded to the account. These are required to prove that you are a resident of North Lincolnshire, are of state pension age or provide evidence of your disability.
  • During the application process, you will be required to add your details into the card holder details section, then choose the type of pass they require. You will be required to upload a photograph (there are guidelines as to how the picture must look on the page). You must upload and save the photograph. If completed correctly you will see an example of your pass.
  • Review your application – if all the sections have a green tick, you will be able to proceed.
  • After the application has been completed a confirmation email will be sent out.
  • Your application will be reviewed by a member of the team and any further information will be sent to your email or via phone call.
