Community organisations interested in running Christmas activity sessions for families are being invited to find out more at online information events taking place next month.
Earlier this summer, Government cash enabled thousands of young people to take part in North Lincolnshire’s biggest ever holiday activity programme. With a choice of 250 inspiring activities, from street dancing to Tae kwon do, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Now, with the activity programme set to return for the Christmas holidays, local businesses, charities, schools and community groups have the chance to find out how to get involved, access funding and ask any questions they may have.
Providers who are organising sessions for the first time can find out more about the process on Wednesday 6 October. Places can be booked for either Wed, October 6, 2021 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM or Wed, October 6, 2021 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM sessions via Eventbrite.
Providers who have already delivered the activities previously can register to discuss any changes to the requirements and application process on Thursday 7 October, from Thu, October 7, 2021 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM or Thu, October 7, 2021 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM.
All information sessions take place online, via Microsoft Teams.
To make the process more manageable, providers will deliver activities for a minimum of two days and maximum of four, with applications invited from those who can support children to:
- eat healthier over the school holidays
- be more active over the school holidays
- take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing
- have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition.
The Christmas activities will build on the success of the popular summer programme, which received a fantastic response from families. One parent said:
“My son has come home from the sessions with so many exciting things to tell me and has had so much fun. He was nervous about attending but he was made to feel so welcome and the people were so nice and friendly.”
The activity programme is a partnership project, delivered by North Lincolnshire Council alongside local businesses and funded by the Department of Education.
