After more than four decades at Oakfield Primary, Mrs Butler has finally retired – leaving behind a legacy that goes far beyond the dinner hall.
For 42 years, she’s been a familiar face to generations of children – serving meals, offering a kind word, and keeping things running smoothly day in, day out. But her contribution didn’t stop there.
Behind the scenes, Mrs Butler also helped bring school plays to life, creating costumes and supporting productions that children will remember for years to come.
To mark her retirement, Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, dropped in to Oakfield Primary to thank her in person and recognise the difference she’s made.
Across decades, Mrs Butler has been part of the fabric of the school – a constant for families, with many parents now sending their own children through the same doors she’s worked in for years.
Cllr Waltham said: “This is what community looks like. Turning up every day, looking after children, and going the extra mile without ever making a fuss about it.
“Mrs Butler hasn’t just served meals – she’s been part of childhoods for generations of local families. From the dinner hall to school plays, that’s a huge contribution and one that deserves real thanks.”
Her retirement marks the end of an era for Oakfield Primary – but the impact she’s had, both in and out of the classroom, will be felt for years to come.
