Every Saturday in December passengers travelling in North Lincolnshire can take advantage of £1 bus travel.
The £1 single fare scheme has no age restriction and will run every Saturday in December with all bus operators. To qualify for the £1 fare, passengers will need to start and end their journey within North Lincolnshire.
Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity, said:
“This is fantastic news for residents across North Lincolnshire. The £1 Saturday travel in December will help people save money, encourage people to use public transport more and will also help combat rural isolation and loneliness.
“December is a busy time for most people and this scheme will help support people to travel around North Lincolnshire more easily and cheaply, whether that is to do Christmas shopping, visit family and friends, do leisure activities, get to work or attend appointments.
“This is in addition to all the improvements to bus services across the county including Normanby Hall Country Park Saturday bus being extended until the end of the year, a new drop-off location for the Isle Shopper, a new evening and late-night service for Epworth and the £1 bus fare for young people which ran again in October half term.”
The scheme is being delivered on behalf of North Lincolnshire’s Enhanced Bus Partnership, with the scheme funded from the Department of Transport Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) grant.
