Pride in Place

The Scunthorpe Town Fund Board has been replaced by The Scunthorpe Neighbourhood Board. You can still access the historic information on the Scunthorpe Town Fund Board webpage.

Pride in Place is a transformative initiative launched by the UK government to rejuvenate and empower local communities. With a substantial investment of £1.5 billion, this programme aims to address the root causes of deprivation and ensure that no area is left behind.

Objectives of the Programme

Pride in Place focuses on three core goals:

  1.  Thriving Places: By investing in infrastructure, housing, and public services, the programme aims to create vibrant, sustainable communities where people can live, work, and thrive
  2. Stronger Communities: The initiative seeks to foster a sense of belonging and community spirit, encouraging local engagement and participation in decision-making processes
  3. Taking Back Control: Empowering local authorities and communities to have a greater say in their future, ensuring that development and growth are tailored to local needs and aspirations

Key Features

  • Long-Term Investment: Each of the 75 selected areas will receive up to £20 million over a 10-year period, providing the stability and resources needed for meaningful change
  • Neighbourhood Boards: These boards will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the programme, ensuring that local voices are heard and that projects align with community priorities
  • Regeneration Plans: Local authorities and Neighbourhood Boards will develop comprehensive regeneration plans, which will be assessed and approved by the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG) before funding is released

Pride in Place (PiP) – Expressions of Interest (EOI) now closed

Scunthorpe Neighbourhood Board, in its role as the designated Neighbourhood Board for the government’s Pride in Place (PiP) programme is pleased to announce the opening of a formal call for project proposals. Local organisations are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for initiatives that will help deliver on the 10 year vision for the town.

This call represents an important opportunity for community groups, voluntary and charitable organisations, local businesses, education providers, cultural and heritage institutions, and public sector partners to bring forward ideas that will contribute to Scunthorpe’s shared ambitions for thriving neighbourhoods, empowered communities, and a renewed sense of local pride and leadership.

The PiP programme places residents and communities at the heart of regeneration, and the Scunthorpe Neighbourhood Board is particularly keen to receive proposals that strengthen community participation, celebrate our local identity, and support inclusive growth across our town.

All projects must be delivered within the defined PiP boundary area for Scunthorpe, in line with government grant funding conditions. Proposals must clearly demonstrate how their activities, outcomes, and beneficiaries are located within this boundary, ensuring that the investment directly supports aligns with the pre-approved interventions and priority themes for regeneration. funding conditions.

Calls for projects will be issued in several waves throughout the programme, providing multiple opportunities for organisations to submit proposals. All applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Following assessment, organisations whose EOIs demonstrate alignment with the programme’s aims and eligibility criteria will be invited to submit a full application. Full applications may only be submitted by organisations that have been invited to proceed following the EOI stage.

  • The submission period for Expressions of Interest has now closed

Pride in Place: FAQs

The programme is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG) as a grant. North Lincolnshire Council is the accountable body, meaning it acts as treasurer for the grant money, but all decisions are made by the Scunthorpe Neighbourhood Board.

The Plan for Neighbourhoods was the original, smaller regeneration programme, supporting 75 places with long‑term funding to improve their local area. Pride in Place is the most recent, much bigger version of that programme. It expands the approach nationally to 284 communities. The Plan for Neighbourhoods is therefore part of the wider Pride in Place programme.

You can read more about the Pride in Place programme on the government website.

Decisions about Pride in Place in Scunthorpe are made locally through a dedicated Neighbourhood Board working with North Lincolnshire Council as the accountable body for the fund. The Neighbourhood Board includes members of the community and produced a regeneration plan in November 2025 using community input gathered through Neighbourhood LAB events and resident surveys to shape local priorities.

Expressions of Interest for projects will be released in waves. This means that project start dates will depend on the specific timeline set out by the organisation appointed to deliver each programme.

As projects will vary in scale, complexity, and delivery approach, the timelines for commencement and completion will also differ. Smaller initiatives may begin shortly after approval, while larger or more complex projects may require longer mobilisation periods.

A member of the programme team will review your EOI within two working days and will get in touch regarding the next steps. We may have questions on your proposal, and you will need to respond in order for a decision to be made. After we have all of the information we need, you will either be invited to submit a full application, or your application will be declined if it does not meet the aims of the Pride in Place programme.
