Cllr John Briggs became the 23rd Mayor of North Lincolnshire following the Annual meeting on Thursday 17 May 2018.
Cllr Briggs was born in Sheffield and lived in Cheshire and Nottinghamshire before moving to Crowle in 1984. He has been a ward councillor for 19 years. John is a former town councillor and town mayor. He is the Founder Chairman of Crowle and Ealand Heritage Society, Crowle and Ealand Regeneration Group and Crowle and Ealand Action Group Against Incinerators in Rural Areas. John is also a member of:
- The Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Management Board
- Crowle Market Place Delivery Group
- North Isle Partnership and Neighbourhood Action Team
- Hull and Goole Port Health Authority
- Fire Commission
- Yorkshire and Humber Employers Association
John has been the Chairman of Humberside Fire Authority for the past seven years.
Cllr Briggs has chosen Lindsey Lodge Hospice and The Fire Fighters Charity as the charities that he will support through the Mayor’s Appeal Fund.
Cllr Briggs said:
“My family and I are proud to live in North Lincolnshire and Axholme North; this is our home. It has been a real privilege to have been a ward councillor for the past 19 years. Joanne and I are very much looking forward to being ambassadors for North Lincolnshire in the coming year.
“It is going to be brilliant to get out and about, meet different people and raise as much money as possible for my chosen charities, Lindsey Lodge Hospice and The Fire Fighters Charity - both of which I am very passionate about.”
Cllr Jonathan Evison is the Deputy Mayor of North Lincolnshire.
