The Mayor has chosen two local charities to support during her Mayoral year, Jen’s Special Place and Macmillan Cancer Support, Scunthorpe.

Jen’s Special Place
Jen’s Special Place is a child bereavement support charity based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The charity ultimately aims to support children and young people in expressing their grief and exploring their feelings in a safe and emphatic environment; enabling them to grow through each others experiences. Parents and carers also benefit from our service; offering adult peer support and an opportunity to speak with others in similar circumstances.

What does Macmillan Cancer Support do?
Macmillan has spent more than 100 years helping people living with cancer. From the moment someone is diagnosed with cancer, they are there with all the information, support and guidance you need, to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can.
How they help people
We know that cancer can disrupt your whole life, and affects everyone differently. Cancer impacts more than your physical health, it can impact relationships, jobs, finances, emotional wellbeing and so much more.
