Phase 1 – How to teach

Term 1 Autumn Term/ Initial Placement

  • Understanding of pedagogy, how pupils learn.
  • How teachers plan and deliver effective and inclusive lessons.
  • Establishing a positive learning environment.
  • Understanding professional behaviour required of a teacher.
  • Understanding the demographic of your school.
  • 20-40% teaching commitment.

Phase 2 – What to teach

Term 2 Spring Term/ Main Placement

  • Subject Knowledge development.
  • Planning and delivering a range of lessons more independently.
  • Understanding of the school’s curriculum intent.
  • Developing an understanding of how and when to use formative assessment strategies.
  • 40-60% teaching commitment.

Phase 3 – When to teach

Term 3 Summer Term/ Main Placement

  • Plan and deliver creative, inspiring lessons.
  • Effectively bringing theory and practice together.
  • Adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • 60-80% teaching commitment.
