Thousands of pensioners on the lowest incomes will receive £100 from the council this summer thanks to £1.3m from the Government’s Household Support Fund (HSF).

They will receive a £100 voucher they can cash at any post office.

Councillor Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Household Support Fund has been a lifeline for many North Lincolnshire residents during challenging times. The economy is growing, and inflation is under control but this support will be invaluable to our most vulnerable pensioners.”

This latest award means the Government’s HSF schemes have pumped almost £8m into the local economy. As well as financial support for pensioners, the council has worked with partners to help people into work or increase their earning power.

Cllr Neil Poole, portfolio holder for sustainable council, said: “Thousands of families have been helped through this scheme in the last few years.

“Inflation continues to fall but even so the Government continues to back the council to provide for pensioners, many on fixed incomes, across North Lincolnshire.”
