Residents are being asked to hang on to their unwanted small electrical items rather than leaving at the kerbside along with their recycling boxes.
Electrical items cannot be accepted at household recycling centres either. This is because onward processing is currently unavailable.
The centres remain open for residents to dispose of other waste, with additional social distancing measures in place.
When buying a new electrical appliance, some retailers may offer a service to remove the old item.
