North Lincolnshire’s Health and Wellbeing Board has unanimously adopted the new Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2025–2035, marking a bold and collaborative step forward in improving the lives of residents across the region.

The strategy sets out a clear vision for “Thriving People and Place”, with two key ambitions:

· Narrowing the gap in healthy life expectancy across communities by 2030 and continuing to reduce it through 2035.

· Increasing healthy life expectancy by five years by 2035.

It focuses on three priority areas:

1. Creating healthy places to live, grow, and play.

2. Improving the health and wellbeing of women and children.

3. Enhancing the experience of ageing.

Speaking after the board’s decision, Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This strategy is about making sure every pound we invest delivers real improvements for our residents. We’re strong on measuring outcomes because we want to be sure that the work we do leads to better lives for people in North Lincolnshire. But we must be honest – our NHS is under immense pressure, and the success of this strategy depends on continued and increased Government investment in our healthcare system and our hospital. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, our hospital must be supported to meet the needs of our growing and ageing population.

“We also expect every health partner, from GPs to wider health bodies, to actively support this strategy and commit to its delivery. This is a shared responsibility, and we need everyone working together to make a real difference.”

The strategy builds on previous commitments and aligns with the Integrated Care Strategy for Humber and North Yorkshire, ensuring regional collaboration and shared goals.

Cllr Christine Patterson, cabinet member for healthy lives and places, added: “This strategy is a real opportunity to work together across communities, services, and sectors. It’s about listening to people, understanding their experiences, and making sure our actions reflect what matters most to them. We’re committed to making North Lincolnshire a place where everyone can thrive – regardless of their background or circumstances.”

The strategy also introduces a new framework for measuring health and wellbeing outcomes, incorporating lived experience and local data to ensure progress is tracked meaningfully and transparently.
