North Lincolnshire Council Fostering Team who were shortlisted for a prestigious award in recognition of their extraordinary practice went on to win silver at this year’s Social Worker of the Year Awards 2023.
The annual awards that recognise the inspirational and outstanding practice of individuals and organisations is the only major national awards event for social work in England.
Earlier this year, North Lincolnshire Council Fostering Team were announced as a finalist for Team of the Year, Children’s Services (including MDTS) Award and were invited to attend the special awards ceremony in London on Friday 3 November 2023.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and communities said: “I would like to congratulate our fabulous Fostering Team for winning silver at the Social Worker of the Year Awards.
“They continuously go above and beyond for our children and families and this award is testament to the sheer amount of commitment, hard work, skills and experience they all bring to their role every day and the success of working together as a team can bring.”
The awards are open each year to qualified practitioners throughout England with a range of individual and team categories for those working in both children’s and adult departments.
Peter Hay CBE, Chair of the Social Work Awards, said: “This year we received the most entries ever which goes to show organisations and individuals are keen to shine a light on the inspirational achievements of an often-overlooked profession.
